filtering Softwar

We were asked to log on to a website and bring out some answers from the website due to the questions that was giving to us here are the answers attached with this post.

1. The 3rd best ranked filtering Software is CyberSitter 10.
2. A good choice in relation to its filtering capabilities is, you can customize your filtering with almost any program that connects to the Internet, including instant messaging programs and email accounts.
3. Its not a good choice in relation to Operating Systems due to, it doesn’t quite match up in filtering effectiveness, even though it came very close and did have some problems integrating with the web browser in order to filter sites.
4. Click on the hyperlink Why Internet Filter Software what happens: It navigate me to the content that explain why internet filter software.
5. In the Net Nanny Video 4 different User Profile Options.
· No Restrictions
· Restricted Access
· No Access
· Custom
1. Which reasons are proxies commonly used for: It intercepts all requests (of the client) to the real server and forwards it to the real server, returning back the requested data to the client.
2. It is possible to disguise your ip address on the web by log on to www.ipchecker.com
3. 4 Basic Definitions of a Proxy.
· Proxy may refer to one who or that which acts on behalf of someone or something else

· Web-based Proxies: Web-based Proxies are powered by server-side softwares such as CGIProxy, PHProxy, Poxy, and custom proxy scripts.

· Open Proxies: So-called "open proxies" are HTTP or SOCKS type proxy servers that are accidently or maliciously left "open" and accessible on the Internet

· Proxy networks: Various proxy networks (Freenet, I2P, JAP, and TOR) feature layered encryption (sometimes called "onion routing") and peer-to-peer networking to allow their users to communicate anonymously with each other.

· Proxy Software: Other subscription-based services offer client-side application software to automatically configure your browser's proxy settings.

Lecture for today

We are asked to the following topic listed.

Compare 2 firewall products

Compare 2 internet Security Suites.

I guess i finished mine already but just trying to attach it to this post

Internet Safety.
Software Firewalls: For individual home users, the most popular firewall choice is a software firewall. Software firewalls are installed on your computer (like any software) and you can customize it; allowing you some control over its function and protection features. A software firewall will protect your computer from outside attempts to control or gain access your computer, and, depending on your choice of software firewall, it could also provide protection against the most common Trojan programs or e-mail worms. Many software firewalls have user defined controls for setting up safe file and printer sharing and to block unsafe applications from running on your system. Additionally, software firewalls may also incorporate privacy controls, web filtering and more. The downside to software firewalls is that they will only protect the computer they are installed on, not a network, so each computer will need to have a software firewall installed on it.

Hardware Firewalls: Hardware firewalls can be purchased as a stand-alone product but more recently hardware firewalls are typically found in broadband routers, and should be considered an important part of your system and network set-up, especially for anyone on a broadband connection. Hardware firewalls can be effective with little or no configuration, and they can protect every machine on a local network. Most hardware firewalls will have a minimum of four network ports to connect other computers, but for larger networks, business networking firewall solutions are available.

Internet Security Suites 1 : Norton 360 Version 2.0,If you're looking for extensive protection for your PC you can't really go wrong with Norton 360 Version 2.0. Yes, it's a bit of a pain to get up and running (especially if you have a prior version of Norton on your system) but it's well worth it in the long run.
· Enhanced Performance
· Identity Safe Protects Personal Information
· Networking Monitoring Capabilities
We experienced little system lag, if any at all and really appreciated the software's identity safe, network monitoring and online backup and restore features. Scans ran when our system was idle and we didn't experience annoying interruptions. Customer service also improved by leaps and bounds, offering free phone support for one year. Norton is now one of the only companies to do this, going from the worst in service to one of the best in a few short years.

Internet Security Suites 2: McAfee Internet Security 2009 is a good basic Internet security offering that can definitely secure a user's computer from most of the threats that are out there.
· Faster Scanning
· Lighter Impact on Computer Resources
· Improved Detection and Removal
Our biggest points of contention with McAfee Internet Security 2009 is the fact that we feel that the product could have been made a little more user-friendly than it currently is. The interface was a bit hard to follow and we felt more extras should have been added to the product. It just doesn't measure up to some of the competitors in the field. Overall we have to say that McAfee Internet Security 2009 can do its job, but there may be other products on the Web that can do it better.
